28-day dojang

Practice this Legend's method in your own life.

Start a guided 28-day experiment — your first commitment is the seven days to gate one. Choose habits from this blueprint, check in each day, and make a final keep-or-leave decision.

Method narrative

Core practice

Grant's work on rethinking treats a belief as a hypothesis rather than a possession. A practical loop is to separate identity from the current idea, define in advance what evidence would change the decision, invite an outside view, and record what you learned when the evidence moves.
01

Decide how you might change before commitment hardens

Before a project or decision gathers momentum, write one observable failure signal and a review date. Precommitment makes it easier to distinguish persistence from escalation of commitment.

02

Seek a challenger, not just a cheerleader

Ask someone with relevant context to identify the strongest contrary evidence or alternative explanation. The goal is not reflexive disagreement; it is a better test of the idea.

Detailed principle notes

  • P1Detachment

An idea can change without threatening your identity.

Describe the current view as a hypothesis so evidence can update it without becoming a personal defeat.

Ask what evidence would change your current view · Record one belief you updated and the evidence that moved it

  • P2Precommitment

Good exit criteria are defined before sunk costs accumulate.

Name observable evidence and a review date that would trigger a pause, redesign, or stop.

Define one observable signal that would make you reconsider a decision

  • P3Challenge

The outside view tests stories against comparable evidence.

Invite a well-informed challenger to surface missing data and plausible alternatives.

Invite one informed challenger to test a live assumption
